I’ll try to respond in the most spoiler-free manner I can for everyone else :]
In terms of what that ending meant for Ev, I have mixed feelings. I think mischievous cleverness and “knowing more than I give you the impression I know” are inherent traits of Ev and how she operates, and I think the issue reinforces this characterization; she’s honestly playful, but her playfulness always belies a greater sense of seriousness. She counts on people not taking her completely seriously, as demonstrated best by how she behaves around Barbara—she wants Barbara to write her off as goofy, reckless, and out of control. That said, in dire moments, she’s the person with a stern look and a gun firmly raised.
In this sense, I’m hardly surprised by the reveal. I don’t think it necessarily cheapens her relationship with Dinah, per se, but the ending clearly puts it in a different and more dubious perspective. Dinah and Ev keep secrets from each other and have suffered issues of “trust” throughout the last few issues, but this ending certainly casts Ev as the primary deceiver. For now.
